CJC Remodels UGA Sorority Bathroom, Design By Athens-Based Metal & Petal

Collaborative Project With Cecil Jennings Co. and Design Firm Metal & Petal Boasts New Plumbing & Electrical Systems, Tile Floors, Modern Fixtures, And More

Cecil Jennings Construction was recently hired by a UGA sorority to manage a major bathroom remodeling project that involved a full gut job, all the way down to concrete and studs.

The pre-existing bathroom, which includes multiple sinks, shower stalls, bathrooms, and storage for personal effects, had become dated and needed modernization, both practically and stylistically. All of the major systems needed replacing, including plumbing, wiring, and flooring. Additionally, the final product had to also reflect the values and needs of the client.

The design for the new bathroom suite was spearheaded by Abby Evans, designer for Metal & Petal, a residential and commercial design firm with offices in Athens, GA, and Charleston, SC. Abby and her team have extensive experience working with sorority chapters in the Southeast and beyond, bringing her characteristic bespoke, elevated aesthetic to each project.

“The combination of lit mirrors, neutral stone and tile selections, and brass hardware/metal accents creates a classic yet modern and refreshing look. The space reflects the vibrant personalities of the young women who use it and meets all the needs of a college student.” -Abby Evans, Metal & Metal

The Design Process

Asked how Metal & Metal approaches a project like this, Abby explains: “We begin by collecting a wishlist, budget, and timeline from our clients. Next, we develop a comprehensive design plan for the space, detailing each selection and providing a visual illustration of the completed room. Clients can see and touch material samples firsthand, and we explain the reasoning behind our choices while addressing any questions they may have. We maintain open communication to ensure a collaborative process and to build confidence in the final design we’ve crafted.

I [also] draw inspiration from the brand’s overall identity. To bring this project to life, I thoroughly explored [the sorority’s] website to grasp their values and aesthetic elements. Recognizing that lavender holds special significance, I made sure to weave it into the design. Additionally, I take cues from the members themselves, observing their habits and how they use their space to ensure the design truly meets their needs.”

Built With Quality, Integrity, and Craftsmanship

While Abby and her team did a wonderful job on the design, we are honored that the sorority entrusted the demo and remodeling construction to Cecil Jennings Construction. We are proud to have been selected for the project based on our reputation for professionalism, integrity, and quality craftsmanship.

“This was a great project for us, demonstrating our capabilities and craftsmanship, and how well we can work with other partners and still get the job done on time and on budget. We’re delighted that the current and future members of this sorority can enjoy this fully-rebuilt, modernized space on a daily basis for years to come.” -Cecil Jennings, CEO, Cecil Jennings Construction
